ED431 – Mobile Learning

Assignment:

Using information from chapter 9 of The World is Open and online resources (blogs, articles, Rasmuson, etc.) which you will locate, undertake some exploratory research on the state of adoption and implementation of Wi-Fi and broadband mobile tools (smart phones, tablets, cell phones, iPods) in K-12 or post-secondary education. You may evaluate mobile tools in general or you may concentrate on a single device (e.g., iPad) or genre (e.g., smart phones). You may also choose to concentrate on mobile tool implementation in a specific subject (e.g., music, math, special education) or a grade/age level. (500-1000 words)

Keep a record of the online resources you use in Diigo tagged onidmobile. You’ll be expected to collect at least 20 online resources in addition to the required reading from The World is Open.

Develop a position statement on mobile tools in K-12 or post-secondary education supported by examples the reading and from your research. How can mobile tools fit into K-12/post-secondary education? What are the pros and cons of implementing Wi-Fi or broadband mobile tools? Are there promising practices or exemplary programs that provide examples? Publish your statement in a blog entry titled “Mobile Tools.” Remember to use the “ED 431” category for your blog post. Once your statement has been reviewed and revised, publish it in your portfolio on a page titled “Mobile Tools.
